What's Always Included

The Security Deposit — €500

A €500 block is placed on your payment card at the start of your hire. This is a pre-authorisation, not a charge — no money leaves your account. The block is released automatically by your bank within 31 days of the end of your rental.

This block covers your maximum liability in the unlikely event of damage to the vehicle. If no damage occurs, nothing is ever deducted and the full €500 is released by your bank automatically.

Your Liability Explained

Your maximum liability for vehicle damage is €500. This means that in the event of an accident or damage that is your responsibility, the most you could be asked to contribute is €500 — secured by the card block above.

If third parties are involved (e.g. another vehicle or property is damaged), the full €500 liability is captured from the card block to cover costs while the claim is processed.

For single-vehicle incidents with no third parties, liability is assessed based on the actual damage.

CDW — Reduce Your Liability to €100

You can add a Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) to your booking for just €10 per day. This reduces your maximum liability from €500 down to €100, giving you greater peace of mind throughout your stay.

With CDW, the card block is also reduced to €100 at the start of your hire. It is an optional add-on — there is no pressure to take it, but many guests find it worthwhile for longer stays.

Example: A 7-day hire with CDW costs an extra €70 but reduces your maximum exposure from €500 to €100.

What's Not Covered

  • Damage caused under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Deliberate or reckless damage
  • Driving outside of Malta and Gozo
  • Damage to tyres from kerbing or improper use
  • Personal belongings left in the vehicle

Young Drivers (21–25)

Drivers between 21 and 25 years old are welcome. An additional young driver fee may apply due to higher statistical risk in this age group — this will always be clearly stated in your quote before you confirm.

All named drivers must hold a full, valid licence for at least 2 years.
